In September, over 75 TEP Permian Basin area operators convened in Midland, Texas to discuss challenges and further learnings about ways to drive down emissions. During the morning session, operator shares covered tank and flare facility design strategies, experiences with implementing a closed loop gas capture system to minimize flaring, challenges in incorporating acquired assets into company methane emission reduction strategies and how to incorporate satellite detections into mitigation practices. A Federal regulatory update and a presentation on Permian-specific state regulatory perspectives touching on OOOOc state requirements, beneficial use of produced water, waste management in the oil and gas industry, and field operations security were also provided.
Then in the afternoon, attendees worked to develop a draft compressor and engine driver emissions foundational learning document to serve as a training resource with field personnel.
Presentations from the TEP 2025 Permian Basin Workshop are available for members in TEP’s Resources Section of the website.
